Vanderbilt Bone & Joint provides state-of-the-art comprehensive care for injured athletes of all ages and levels of play. Unfortunately, head injuries do occur in sports. When a head injury does happen, you or your athlete will be treated with the most up-to-date protocols for concussion management. Our goal is to return you or your athlete back to sports as soon and as safely possible.
Our Certified Athletic Trainers are highly trained in the on-field assessment and management of concussions, as well as concussion rehab and return-to-sport protocols. As a member of the Vanderbilt Sports Concussion Center, Dr. Jim Fiechtl can perform the initial assessment of your concussion and provide the guidance and reassurance you need. Dr. Fiechtl will guide the acute and long-term treatment of concussions. For those unfortunate few with prolonged and persistent symptoms, Dr. Fiechtl, will arrange for advanced care and referral for neuropsychological testing, cognitive rehabilitation and symptom management through the Vanderbilt Sports Concussion Center.
