Sports Medicine

Football, baseball, tennis, running – we love sports too, and we love to help athletes recover from injuries to get back to their game. From competitive athletes of all levels to recreational ‘weekend warriors,’ we help patients of all ages get back to their activities. We love being active; we want to keep you active, too.

Vanderbilt Bone & Joint is committed to the athletes in Williamson County. We are honored to be the official sports medicine providers for all Williamson County high schools. Each school has a dedicated team of physicians and athletic trainers to provide immediate care should an athlete get hurt.

Sports injuries require special attention. Our sports medicine physicians are highly trained to help recreational and competitive athletes return to play and day-to-day activities. We have experience treating Olympic, professional, collegiate, high school and numerous youth athletes.

Sports medicine physicians see patients with a variety of injuries, including the following:

  • Damage to cartilage or ligaments
  • Tendon injuries
  • Joint dislocations and labral tears
  • Knee pain
  • Meniscus tears
  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Strains and sprains
  • ACL tears
  • Throwing injuries
  • Hip injuries

Ankle and shoulder injuries were holding back the performance of professional triathlete Craig Evans. Orthopedic surgery at Vanderbilt Bone and Joint helped him realize his full athletic potential.
